The Scenic celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2016. That's quite an accomplishment for Renault considering 10 years is the average lifespan for a model before sales decline below sustanable numbers. While not as popular in South Africa, the Scenic is still selling well in the UK.
The latest generation has limited buttons and controls, making it easy to learn how to operate. It also has an 8.7 inch touchscreen which is easy enough to navigate, as well as two usb ports for those that enjoy their music.
The Clio has an even more popular following than the Scenic, having been in production since 1990. The popular "Va va voom" car has dominated the supermini segment for several years and while it's not the top dog at the moment, it's still a popular choice. It's also only one of three cars to have won the European Car of the Year award twice.
Renault has created a car that's capable of taking on the mixed traffic conditions that comes with city driving as well as the long miles of the open road. The result is a car that's quiet and responsive, giving it a smooth drive.
The Captur is certainly an eye-catcher with its duo-tone roof and body options. It's been a huge seller in the crossover segment as a result. And the latest generation Renault Captur has had a big overhaul in the standard equipment fitted to it, making it even more desirable than before.
The boot gives you a fair 377 litres of space, which can be extended to 455 litres once you've folded down the back seats. The interior has a fresh-looking dash with cubbyholes in the center console you can actually fit things in. Renault has done a marvelous job with the Captur.
The Duster is a budget 4x4. It forgoes the bells and whistles in favour of reaching a market other 4x4s fail to cater for, which is the cash-strapped 4x4 enthusiast. To give you an idea of just how cheap the Duster really is, you could buy one for less than the cost of a Ford Fiesta.
The latest generation has had its weak spots ironed out and and has been subtly upgraded with more equipment and better comfort. It's still cheap and is unlikely to be challenged by rivals in that department.
The Megane's fame stems from Renault's creative marketing team who took it upon themselves to promote the Megane in their humourous "shake it" ad campaign focused on sexy rears. The Megane is a top competitor in its segment, offering more equipment than most, especially in its base model.
The interior has a nice finish, with soft material on the upper dashboard giving it a smart look. The layout of the dash is also well conceived making it easy to handle any of the controls available.
